WHY I BECAME A CHIROPRACTOR

My dad was a fireman. Once while assisting the paramedics, a patient became violent. As a result, my dad sustained a whiplash in his lower back which affected his L4 vertebrae and sciatic nerve requiring medical attention. For one month, he had to use a cane just to walk because of severe back spasms. During this time, the medical doctor put him on muscle-relaxer pills and started physical therapy. Nothing worked so he tried chiropractic. I remember driving my dad to that first chiropractic visit. I had to carry him into the office. After that first visit, my dad was able to not only walk out of the office but was able to drive home. After just one trip to the chiropractor, he experienced more relief than he had with months of drugs and therapy. The pain and muscle spasms were reduced significantly. He never used his cane again. This was my first exposure to chiropractic care. I did not know at the time that I would soon be a chiropractic patient myself.

Shortly after my dad’s visit to the chiropractor, I was at basketball practice. All of the sudden, I had difficulty breathing. The more I ran the worse it got. I had never experienced anything like it before. It got to the point that I could no longer run. I left practice early. When I got home, I told my dad what happened. He said, “We’re going to the chiropractor.” I did not know if it would help but I went with my dad. After one adjustment, I was able to run up and down the court the next day. I have loved chiropractic ever since!
